Breaking Barriers: Addressing Eating Disorders in the Black Community

Join a panel of Black eating disorder providers and survivors for an important conversation about mental health.

February is Black History Month, a time to honor and celebrate the profound contributions and resilience of Black individuals throughout history, reflect on the ongoing fight for racial justice, and amplify Black voices. Join us on February 18th for a free special panel event to talk about the impact of eating disorders in Black communities.

Through personal stories and expert insights from Black providers who work in the field and community members with lived experience, this panel will explore the barriers that have led to the underrepresentation and underdiagnosis of eating disorders within the Black community. Panelists will highlight the urgent need for more inclusive and culturally competent treatment approaches, as well as the importance of destigmatizing Black mental health.

Attendees will leave with a deeper understanding of how to address these disparities and advocate for better support and resources for Black individuals facing eating disorders. Content for this event is geared toward clinicians in the field, but all are welcome to join.

**Note: We want to thank the panelists participating in this event for being willing to share their personal experiences on this sensitive and important topic. As you consider your questions, we ask that you be respectful of others’ individual experiences and viewpoints.
