Change lives this Weight Stigma Awareness Week!

It’s time for change.

Examples of weight stigma are all around us, from hurtful comments to discrimination in healthcare, clothing brands and employment. Weight stigma refers to the unfair and negative stereotypes, judgments, and biases people face based on their body size and weight.

Weight Stigma Awareness Week is an initiative sparked in collaboration between two advocates combatting weight stigma and eating disorder awareness: Dr. Wendy Oliver-Pyatt, co-founder of Within Health, and Chevese Turner, founder of Body Equity Alliance. This Weight Stigma Awareness Week, our team is joining these trailblazers in solidarity, and highlighting the ways in which weight stigma affects so many individuals on a daily basis, so that we can help make a difference.

All week long, we will share resources and highlight organizations that eradicate the stigma around weight, and spread the message that all bodies rock, no matter their shape or size! Be sure to follow us on social media to keep up with our mission.

Rock Recovery was founded on the belief that ALL people should be able to access the life-saving eating disorder therapy and support they need to heal, without finances being a barrier to care, and we are dedicated to bringing this vision to life one step at a time.
