Prayer Support Group for Parents & Loved Ones

We get it. Caring for a child, friend, or family member who is struggling with an eating disorder is overwhelming. You might even be wondering “Where is God in all of this?” The truth is you are not alone and your support, along with family and friends, is vital for your loved one in recovery. The key is to make sure you take care of yourself as well as your loved one along the recovery journey.

That’s why we created our monthly, virtual prayer support group for parents and loved ones. This free support group will help you connect with others who are on similar journeys and engage your faith to find hope in the recovery journey.

If you are looking for treatment support for your loved one, you can view our list of eating disorder therapy services here (open to residents of DC, MD, & VA). Additionally, we offer nationwide, faith-based support groups for those who are struggling on Zoom through the year.

How does the support group work?

This is a free prayer support group, open to anyone who is providing care for a loved one through the eating disorder recovery journey. Each group meets on the first Tuesday of the month from 7:00 - 8:00 PM EST via Zoom.

Each monthly meeting will be led by dedicated Rock Recovery volunteer and trained dietitian, Beth Ask. This group is designed to provide connection to other parents and family members who are going through similar struggles. In each group, you and your family will be encouraged to lean on God and provided with tools to heal through scripture reading, journaling, group discussion and reflection.

A Parent’s Story of Healing:

“Our daughter was diagnosed with anorexia at the end of seventh grade. Everyday she was alive, I was thankful. But living with the rigorous schedules of therapies, hospitalizations, in and out of treatments, meal prepping and feedings that could last for hours were, at times, so grueling, I thought there was no way we could ever overcome, nor sustain this.

[Rock Recovery] took her in out of the cold and she began to take her recovery into her own hands. The group therapy gave her a safe place to practice being herself without judgment. They just somehow knew how to reach my child, without going through food.
