The Gift of Giving this Holiday Season

The Joy of the Holiday Season

The holidays are, without a doubt, my favorite time of the year. From October through January, people are filled with the excitement of the season.

But what makes this season so special for me is not the things we typically choose to celebrate:

  • It’s not the pumpkin spice lattes

  • It’s not the delicious turkey or my dad’s famous macaroni and cheese

  • It’s not the gifts that I receive on Christmas morning

While I love and appreciate each of these things, my favorite thing about the holidays is the spirit of the season. I love how the world comes together to care for each other in a way that's unseen throughout the rest of the year.

The Power of Giving

Working for a nonprofit, I have the unique opportunity to experience the power of giving all year long. Eating disorder treatment is extremely costly. For many of the clients who come to us, we are the last line of defense between them and their eating disorder. Your generosity bridges that gap of cost and accessibility, giving each of our clients the hope that they may find healing someday.

When you consider supporting a charity this holiday season (and every season in between), your gift is changing a life. You are not giving money, rather you are giving a meal, a coat, a warm bed to sleep in at night. You are giving men, women, children and families hope for a better tomorrow.

Every year, Rock Recovery kicks off our holiday giving season with Giving Tuesday. This is a special day that honors the life-changing work that nonprofits do in your community, and the people who make that important work possible.

This holiday season, as you sit around with your loved ones and reflect on all you have, I urge you to think about what it is that you hope to give away this season. Is it hope? Is it healing? Is it a second chance?

If you are able, we would love for you to join us this holiday giving season and help more people access Rock Recovery's life-saving treatment and community programs.

I wish you all the love and happiness this holiday season. Thank you for sharing your gifts!
