Sylvia KampSylvia Kamp – VP Fiduciary

Sylvia serves as Fiduciary Vice President of Rock Recovery, allowing her to combine past legal experience with a passion to help young men and women. She is excited to meet other people with the same goals of raising awareness and lowering the prevalence of disordered eating. After 10 years of coaching Division I collegiate athletics, Sylvia now works for the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association. This job recently moved her from the Midwest to New Orleans, Louisiana. Sylvia loves to watch sports — especially NASCAR, football, and college basketball — and she is probably the only person with horseshoe and fleur-de-lis tattoos! She enjoys running, biking, reading, and exploring her new town.

 

Naomi Pizarro

Naomi Pizarro – VP of Human Resources

Naomi Pizarro, PHR, comes to Rock Recovery with more than 20 years of experience, to lead and coordinate the Human Resources function as the VP of Human Resources.

Naomi’s professional experience spans organizations in the Washington metropolitan area with 50 to 300+ employees, and some of these firms, with field staff worldwide, including in high conflict areas such as Iraq, Egypt, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Azerbaijan, and Lebanon, in addition to countries in Africa and the Middle East. In her past positions, Naomi has ensured that staff recruitment, hiring and development, employee relations and the overall human resources strategic direction complements and responds to the strategic long and short-term goals of the organizations.  Naomi has a certificate in Human Resources Management from the George Mason University and is also a certified Professional in Human Resources (PHR) through the Human Resources Certification Institute (HRCI) and by the Society of Human Resources Management (SHRM). She earned her degree in General Studies with emphasis in English and Mathematics from Northern Virginia College.  She enjoys traveling, sailing and spending time in her native Northern Virginia with her family.

Clara Hanson - photoClara Hanson – Secretary/Historian

Clara serves as the Board Secretary of Rock Recovery. She graduated from The George Washington University in 2012 with a degree in Sociology and American Studies. Clara currently works as a media analyst, and looks forward to using her organizational skills to advance the mission of Rock Recovery. In her free time, Clara enjoys cooking, painting, reading, exploring DC, and playing with her sister’s golden retriever.
 

 

Kristen Hostetter photoKristen Hostetter – VP of Communications and Marketing

Kristen Hostetter, a D.C. area native, graduated from East Carolina University in 2006 with a B.A. in communication and a focus on public relations. She started her professional career in 2007 with digital B2B publishers, FierceMarkets. There, she currently works as the sales and marketing manager developing digital marketing campaigns for her clients and heading the product marketing efforts for the sales team. In 2011, Kristen began working for Rock Recovery to help develop a marketing communications strategy. She has enjoyed bringing awareness to Rock Recovery’s mission of supporting the journey to freedom from disordered eating and is excited for the opportunity to expand her experience in PR, marketing and event planning. In her free time, Kristen enjoys cooking, doing yoga, and running.

 

Walter SczudloWalter Sczudlo – Senior Advisor to the Board

Walter Sczudlo, J.D., LL.M. joined the RR team in 2010 with an expertise in nonprofit legal issues including matters related to nonprofit boards, governance, strategic planning and organization management; as well as staff organization, recruitment, management, and retention. He is pleased to bring to RR his knowledge about best practices in philanthropy based on his background in nonprofit law and policy. Walter is also very active as a public policy advocate on nonprofit issues, having organized passage of the CARE (Charity Aid Recovery and Empowerment) Act and other legislative initiatives including the IRA Charitable Rollover. Prior to establishing his consulting practice, Mr. Sczudlo served as the Executive Vice President and General Counsel of the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP), for nearly ten years. Walter is an active runner with two triathlons and a marathon behind him.
