Sylvia Kamp – VP Fiduciary
Sylvia serves as Fiduciary Vice President of Rock Recovery, allowing her to combine past legal experience with a passion to help young men and women. She is excited to meet other people with the same goals of raising awareness and lowering the prevalence of disordered eating. After 10 years of coaching Division I collegiate athletics, Sylvia now works for the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association. This job recently moved her from the Midwest to New Orleans, Louisiana. Sylvia loves to watch sports — especially NASCAR, football, and college basketball — and she is probably the only person with horseshoe and fleur-de-lis tattoos! She enjoys running, biking, reading, and exploring her new town.
Jackie Quinlan – Secretary/Historian
Jackie Quinlan joined the Rock Recovery team in the fall of 2012 as a Development Coordinator. Jackie is a DC-area native and received her undergraduate business degree from Cornell University. With experience in the hospitality industry, sales, human resources, and data analysis, Jackie is thrilled to have the opportunity to help support Rock Recovery’s mission. An active member of the Arlington fitness community, Jackie is passionate about balanced healthy eating and wellness. Outside of volunteering with Rock Recovery, Jackie works full-time as a Product Analyst for a research and advisory firm. In her spare time she enjoys distance running, cooking, watching professional sports and reality TV.
Cerissa K. Burden, M.S., SPHR- VP, Human Capital
Cerissa K. Burden, M.S., SPHR is certified as a Senior Professional in Human Resources by HRCI, with a Masters from Abilene Christian University and Bachelor of Business Administration from Georgia Southern University in Human Resource Management & Organizational Development. With well over a decade of human resource experience Cerissa’s experience spans corporate, government, and non-profit sectors. Her specialties include: International HR, Workforce Planning/Recruiting/Retention, Policy and SOP development, Employee Relations, Performance Management, HR Legal Compliance, Conflict Resolution, Negotiation, Vendor & Contract Management, and Total Rewards Management.
Being one that believes in using her skills to help her community no matter where in the world she may be living; Cerissa is excited to be able to use her human resource skills and experiences to help Rock Recovery in its important work and to support its wonderful staff and volunteers to continue the mission of setting people free from disordered eating.
Walter Sczudlo – Senior Advisor to the Board
Walter Sczudlo, J.D., LL.M. joined the RR team in 2010 with an expertise in nonprofit legal issues including matters related to nonprofit boards, governance, strategic planning and organization management; as well as staff organization, recruitment, management, and retention. He is pleased to bring to RR his knowledge about best practices in philanthropy based on his background in nonprofit law and policy. Walter is also very active as a public policy advocate on nonprofit issues, having organized passage of the CARE (Charity Aid Recovery and Empowerment) Act and other legislative initiatives including the IRA Charitable Rollover. Prior to establishing his consulting practice, Mr. Sczudlo served as the Executive Vice President and General Counsel of the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP), for nearly ten years. Walter is an active runner with two triathlons and a marathon behind him.
Naomi Pizarro – Senior Advisor to the Board
Naomi Pizarro, PHR, comes to Rock Recovery with more than 20 years of experience, to lead and coordinate the Human Resources function as the VP of Human Resources.
Naomi’s professional experience spans organizations in the Washington metropolitan area with 50 to 300+ employees, and some of these firms, with field staff worldwide, including in high conflict areas such as Iraq, Egypt, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Azerbaijan, and Lebanon, in addition to countries in Africa and the Middle East. In her past positions, Naomi has ensured that staff recruitment, hiring and development, employee relations and the overall human resources strategic direction complements and responds to the strategic long and short-term goals of the organizations. Naomi has a certificate in Human Resources Management from the George Mason University and is also a certified Professional in Human Resources (PHR) through the Human Resources Certification Institute (HRCI) and by the Society of Human Resources Management (SHRM). She earned her degree in General Studies with emphasis in English and Mathematics from Northern Virginia College. She enjoys traveling, sailing and spending time in her native Northern Virginia with her family.
Terribeth serves as a Board Member for Rock Recovery. She graduated from Centre College with a BS in Psychology and earned a Specialist Degree from the University of Eastern Kentucky in School Psychology. Terribeth will work on the outreach for Rock of Recovery focusing on the Hungry for What? programs. She works for Scholastic, Inc. and lives with her husband, 10 year old son and 3 cats in Northern Kentucky.
Mike Ciulis joined Rock Recovery as Board Member at Large in July 2014. Mike brings to the Board a broad spectrum of business acumen from a career that has spanned roles in consulting, investment banking, technology, consumer products and retail. He currently works as a Strategic Planner at Nike, Inc. in Beaverton, OR, which as an athlete, is a dream come true for him. Mike holds a BS of Industrial and Operations Engineering from the University of Michigan – Ann Arbor, and an MBA from the University of California – Berkeley. Mike spent several years competing in half marathons and triathlons and now enjoys playing tennis and going for casual runs with the local running club.
Kortney Parman – Board Member
Kortney is both a nurse practitioner and a registered dietitian and joined Rock Recovery as a Board Member at Large in December 2014. With experience in several different eating disorder treatment settings, she offers expertise in the medical and nutritional aspects of recovery. She studied Nutrition and Dietetics at Samford University and completed her dietetic internship at the University of California San Francisco (UCSF). Additionally, she holds a BS in Nursing from Emory University and a MS in Nursing from UCSF. Kortney is passionate about using her unique skill set to support those on the journey to health and recovery from eating disorders. An Atlanta native, she now calls California home and can often be found training for her next triathlon or traveling.
Jordan Watson – Board Member
Jordan Watson is a nationwide advocate in the fields of eating disorder and addiction treatment. He believes that recovery is possible for every person and his passion is to help people gain access to the care they deserve. Watson serves as Director of Business Development at La Ventana Treatment Programs, a Southern California treatment center that specializes in the treatment of eating disorders and substance abuse. In addition, Jordan serves as the marketing chair on the International Association of Eating Disorder Professionals (IAEDP) Los Angeles Chapter Board. In this position, Watson works to develop and promote eating disorder treatment workshops as well as premier professional trainings for practitioners throughout Southern California. Jordan is also an active member of the Academy of Eating Disorders (AED) and the Men’s Association of Addiction Treatment (MAAT). Jordan is proud to join the Rock Recovery Board of Directors and work from his passion to connect people suffering from eating disorders to the best treatment services available.
