The objective of this session is to demonstrate the importance of one’s story in the healing process. During this session, one or more individuals in recovery from disordered eating disorder share their stories. The second story they tell focuses on the new perspective they have gained through the recovery process. Participants will be invited to ask questions. THE ROLE OF FAITH IN BODY IMAGE AND SELF-ACCEPTANCE

Jun 20,2013 -     Time: 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm

This session addresses the role of faith in overcoming negative body image and unhealthy relationships with food and exercise. As a Christian organization, Rock Recovery believes that faith in a loving and unfailing God is critical to freedom from these self-destructive thoughts and behaviors. We do not pressure or ask that anyone share our Christian beliefs, and in fact most of those we serve do not.  Rather, we encourage everyone to go looking for something that will never fail them. Questions addressed in this session include: What does it mean to put one’s faith in God? Where does faith intersect with the recovery journey? What do you say to someone who doesn’t believe in God while respecting their (non-)belief? How do you encourage individuals, regardless of their beliefs, to seek out a stronger faith? Presented by: Carylynn Larson, Ph.D., Founder & Acting Executive Director, Rock Recovery
